Twas All Hallow’s Eve: A Ghoultide Gala written and produced by Thomas Pavlechko & Judy Beglau.
Ghoultide Gala is a Halloween event for all ages! It is built around the performance piece, ‘Twas All Hallow’s Eve’, which features a narrative poem along the lines of The Night Before Christmas. The story is told, in narrative, song and dance, of the Ghoulies who set out for a night of trick-or-treating and encounter memorable characters along the way. Ghoultide Scarols (think Yuletide Carols set in a minor key with spooky accompaniments and Halloween words) are set in to the poem, with hilarious and spooky results.
Starring Third Coast Contemporary and Austin Dance Works with music by the Ghoultide Scarolers and pit orchestra.
Thomas Pavlechko is a highly renowned symphony composer, as well as being Cantor and Composer in residence at St Martin’s Lutheran Church. Thom wrote the Scarols many years ago, and has now arranged them for the National Organ Guild as well as for the full Orghoulstra (wind ensemble with percussion, bells and strings) and chorus. A talented composer, lyricist, conductor and organist, he is passionate about this Ghoulitde project.
Judy Beglau in as author of children’s musicals, picture books, and YA novels. When her dear friend Thom wanted to take the Scarols to the next level with a story, he asked Judy to collaborate with him, and ‘Twas All Hallows Eve was born!
This will be the 3rd annual performance of ‘Ghoultide’, and undoubtedly the biggest and most exciting performance!
Wine, cheese, cookies & punch gala reception follows both performances.
Audience costumes welcomed and encouraged!
